    Street legal?

    by rmdx07 » Wed Jul 11, 2007 5:22 pm

What DOT approved tires do you recommend for the 230?

Also, after a dual sport conversion kit is installed will they even qualify for auto insurance? Just wondering since my ownership certificate states that the bike was not manufactured for use on public streets, roads, or highways.

I'm just looking to occasionally ride on public streets, around lakes, etc.

    Thanks.........

Yes it can. You need to check with your state regulations for details on what they will accept. Tires, noise, lights, turn signals, horn, etc…
You will need to change the primary to a 14 tooth if you want to cruse above 60 mph.

if you live in TN you can strap a flashlight on the front and glowworm on the back and you are good to go.

I'm in Hawaii and own a fully insured, street legal CRF230. It all depends on your state laws as to what it takes to be legal. Best place to ask how hard it is to do is your local motorcycle shop.

My 230 is Street Legal in NH. I run a Trakmaster in the back and a Pirelli in the front. I put a Baja Designs Light kit and Passed the State Inspection and have it Insured. Every State has there own Rules. Try contacting a local riding club for help.
