Anyone have any good ways to read gas levels in the black tank or know where to find a fix or replacement? Hate not knowing how much gas is left?

I have looked into finding large capacity tanks for a 230, there are none. You can find aux tanks for the bar and fender. I did not find anything 230 specific. Since a stock bike gets 100 miles per tank I bought we ever will.

thanks...i have had same problem with finding anything. I would even take a smaller tank if i could read how much gas is in the tank. Why in the world would anyone make a bike that has a black tank inside and impossible to read how much gas is left?

How about a way to add an odometer? I take off on unknown trails and have no idea how far i have gone?

Sure you can install a Trail Tech or an hour meter.

You know, the old "take off the cap and slosh" works pretty well. Do you have a reserve setting? If so, take a little gas in your backpack and run it until you go on reserve. Look into the tank and see where you are. That will give you some idea. You will probably go between 80 and 100 miles.

not sure how often you have looked into the tank of a new 230 but the few rides I have done I cannot see much of anything and its a little tough to tell how much gas is in the tank with the bike sideways.

Thank you for the odometer tips I will check them all out and try one. I am out for a few rides a year and just do not have a way to tell what 80 or 100 miles are on back trails without many maps -- plus I zig zag all over and just have no way of planning out 80 miles...

Thank you the trail tech computer tip as it looks like it should do the trick. I still do not understand any company making a trail bike that you cannot tell how far you have gone, how much gas you have left, or without a head-light to get home by. I get not adding them for those that do not what them but making it so hard to add on I just do not understand for a trail bike.

Only one of the three is a trip computer that tracks mileage etc and its listed to work only on 03-05? Have to check more but I have a new 07 so I hope they tell me it can work?

No problem glad to help. I will get a Trailtech for my self one day, when I finish the performance mods I want. I want a light too but I am not spending $300. I think I will make my own.

My brother just put a headlight and tail/breaklight combo on his 230. I think he spent around 50$ or so. I know he bought them seperate but I not sure where. I will ask him later today and see if we can post all the info. Hope this will help you all.

I recommend the Trail Tech Vapor. I put one on my bike in really enjoy knowing. I was amazed at what my average speed is when riding, much slower than I would have guessed. The trip meter is really helpful.
