My son and I have a CRF230 and CRF150. We enjoy the bikes but don't like the suspension. We are not interested in racing but we really enjoy riding the local motocross track. Any suggestions on improving the suspension to improve our riding on the motocross track.

For the rear I would suggest a Works Performance Shock and for the forks I'd use a Cr85 conversion. I had a Rm250 forks on my 230 and the works shock and it worked out great

I was wondering if anybody had any luck with the BBR front springs and shocks upgrade. I like the idea of the RM 250 fork conversion but that sounds like it could get expensive upgrading 2 bikes.

I am in the process of putting 1987 CR250 front forks on my bike. Theyre at the shop right now, getting new seals put in. I'll let you know how they work out.

Oh btw, this site has alot of great info :

I have an 03' with BBR front springs and shock upgrades, i'm 220lbs and the suspension really handles nice. i'm very impressed with the outcome for sure! well worth the upgrade in my opinion, for the $$ you can't go wrong if you are not racing and flying off doubles..

My Works Performance shock is not in yet  I hear nothing but good about them.
I found some 1985 cr250 forks w/trees on Ebay, reworked them myself. Total cost was about $230. I LOVE them, 43mm & 11” of travel.
I’m working with Scotts Performance to see if a stabilizer will fit.

My son and I just finished installing the BBR fronts springs and rear shock spring on the 150F. Since he is tall, we also added the BBR top triple clamp and shock linkage. This made a world of difference as far as turning this bike into a real motorcycle.

We did the suggested mods of hi flo air filter and re-jetting too.

This bike is fun as hell now. I would suggest these upgrades before spending big bucks on a complete other front end and rear shock. Wish you could ride our bike so you could see the immediate difference.
