is there a way to stiffen the shocks just a little without messing up the handling

There are springs also a little cheaper if u are on a tight budget.

Read the sticky I wrote at the top of the 230 page. Look in Suspension is to soft: on the first page.
Alternatively or the next step is to swap out the fluid to a heavier weight if bottoming out is an issue.
This is the best budget fix before changing springs and ultimately the whole front end. However the bike is what it is… What I mean buy that is before looking at big bucks consider a new bike that is purpose built for your application.

hey i was wondering if anyone has adjusted thier stock shock made it stiffer by adjusting the retaining nuts...would it affect it to much or not much diffrence...

I did it primarily to adjust the height of the bike.
The stock setting on my 230 was so soft I could rotate the spring by hand when the tire was off the ground. I adjusted it all the way down and it did stiffen the back shock considerably.

thanks i'll do the same,but did it affect the rebound. don't want to fly over my bars. hope not going riding this wknd to gorman...
