I learned how to ride.
I learned how to respect the power.
I learned what not to do.
I learned you can spend a lot of money on mods and not get much of it back when you sell

But it was a great 1st bike for a grown man.
This weekend my buddy who taught me how to ride agreed to sell me his 2005 250x with R cam.

I had the CR85 Forks and Reger CR85 Mod Kit ready to put on this winter but after riding this 250x around a little and having put a few hours on or should I say Saturdays of riding with the suped up 230 (BBR D section exhaust, Honda Power Up Kit jetting, Air Box mod, 53th rear sprocket & new chain, BBR Rev Box, Dunlop D756 rear tire) I was nolonger intimidated by the 250. When I first learned how to ride I was scared of my 230 and the 250 was terrifying when you cracked the throttle. Now I can't seem to go fast enough quick enough on the 230 even with the mods. When I was at the track, The Proving Grounds in Breezewood, PA this fall the jumps really made me wish I had those CR85 forks which is why I bought them when I got back. But after riding more and more it just seems like it's time to graduate to the bigger bike! My CR85 forks and Reger Mod Kit will be up for sale eventually.
My good friend is buying my suped up 230 and he's getting a steal basically only paying $400 of the $1500 (parts and overpriced labor) I put into it since I got it this summer!!! But hey he's a good friend and that puts another rider in the group to ride with

It will be a about 2 months before my buddy gets his CRF450 (beginning of riding season) so it will be that long before I pass on the 230. We all can hardly wait. What a great sport!
Well for anybody looking for a 1st bike who is my size 5,9 180lbs I highly recommend getting a CRF230. You may not keep it forever but it is great place to start and if you never decide to get a 250 you will be happy on the 230. The BBR D Section exhaust and Honda Power Up Kit are a must. If you are going to hit the track often I bet the CR85 fork conversion would do wonders for the landings.

That bike carrier is made by gccarriers.com (Grady County Carriers). Good folks there. I even had them make it a custom 3 rail for a 3rd bike. You have to have a Class IV hitch for 3 bikes though.
