It was a learning experiance that is for sure. the 2nd moto sucked the track was so beat up I couldn't get get a good bead on some of the jumps. but I did finally learn how to take whoops that was fun! I finished 10th overall. Dade City is a bunch of tables with one double. it's not to bad. Let me know when you are heading to Bartow hopefully I can meet ya there. I'll be up at Waldo in 2 weeks that is the next stop on the series If I can afford it, that series is a expensive one. If you want to check it out goto www.floridaseries.com.
I'm in the black in the whoop section.

    Hi Guys,

I still consider myself a beginner and would like an opinion on riding at motocross tracks. I have installed the BBR springs and shocks. I don't want to get a racer until I can dominate the CRF230. I am 42 years old and 200 pounds and not interested in racing. My son and I really love riding the local track and we enjoy the track crowd. Any other suggestions on improving the bike so it can handle moderate jumps (25 ft Tables and small doubles)

Have you done any engine, intake or exhaust mods?

No, not at this time. I was getting ready to take it in for the uncorking next week at my local bike shop (rejet, take out the restrictors etc.) I think my main concern was the weight of the machine and the suspension. That is why I went with the BBR springs and shock. Do you think with these mods it would be adequate for beginner type riding on a motocross track until I am able to get comfortable on the track and my skill level improves?

He isn't lying. I just bought myself a 150f and I looked at vids of the races, and I am about 7-10ft in the air, flying about 20ft. I have also seen people ride 230s on tracks and they are fine

I have not tried the BBR suspension mods so I can’t really compare that set up to mine. I also don’t go to a track. An experienced rider can cope with a bad suspension better than a green rider can handle a good one. Personally I think you would be better served with 43mm forks and a Works shock. There are a lot of riders that have put used 250 forks on a 230.

The suspension is a mute point until you get more power. Uncork it first. Then maybe a new pipe, open the air box a little more, put in a #48 slow jet. A 14tooth primary will increase your mid/top end, you can pick one up for $10-$15.
