It will weigh a little less, but if you think you can feel a difference between two 520's it is strictly hallucinatory.

You would be alone in finding the stock 230 chain to be a POS. Some 250/450X owners, conditioned by the way things used to be but aren't, actually write asking about what chain to buy to replace the stock VT, one of the best chains made, and we have to quickly tell them "don't !"
Stuff you can change on a 230 that does make a difference are jetting, intake, cams, exhausts,gearing, but running a non-o-ring chain isn't one of them. Doug
