Your best bet if you wanna jump your 230 is to put a better suspension under it. That's what I ended up doing. Works Performance shock in the rear and a set of RM 250 forks up front.

I don’t know how to post pics here but I put one in my garage.
1] Take the left side panel off.
2] Disconnect the air boot from the back of the carburetor.
3] There is a bolt attaching the bottom of the airbox to the frame via a clip. It is behind the frame. (see pic in my garage). I don’t remember but there may be another one under the seat. You may need WD40 on the clip; be careful not to damage the airbox. I did not need to completely remove the screw.
4] Remove the crankcase vent hose located on the battery side of the bike.
5] Remove the mud flap from the back of the airbox.
6] Wiggle the airbox out. You do not need to remove the battery box.

    when ajusting the shock,
Use a stand to get the back tire off the ground.
A little goes a long way so test the bikes height before you button every up and ride.

:?: do you have to loosen the shock any from the bike or can you adjust the nut on the shock with it in place :?:

I guess I was lucky. I was able to get to mine on the left hand side with a long punch and a hammer.

    no.
the shock spring pushes up on the nut. using a stand will remove the weight of the bike from the spring making it easer to rotate the nut down.

That seems to be an open debate. Some prefer inverted forks, some modify the stock ones. I opted for a pair from a 1985 cr250. There are a lot of factors to consider.
Just about every body agrees the front forks need help. Use the ‘Garage’ feature (hats off to CRF’s Only for that idea!) and search the 230s for mods.

I was thinking about buying the BBR Fork Springs, I Think I read somewhere here that someone said to put only one BBR Fork spring in because with two its too stiff. I wiegh 175 Pounds do you think I will need both in. Also can someone post a step by step way to change the Fork Springs. Thanks

Is there a how-to on installing these? Why is it that no one in MX ever does their own work. =S

i have never used the springs so i cant say. i think the post you are talking about refers to a crf150f.

i really like the bigger forks. they not only have more travel but they are set further apart on the trees. add a set of wider bars (i'm 6'2" so i can ;) ) and i can now fly over roots and wash outs. all that extra width gives me a lot more control.

You folks are talking about spring preload, which won't affect ride height much. If you're a fatty and you crank up the preload, it'll ride a bit higher when you sit on it, but otherwise there's not much to be gained. It'll also ride like sh*t. I've jumped mine a fair bit, I cranked up the preload but then backed it off somewhere between stock and max...it handled jumps better (so long as I landed nicely) but everything else sucked. Forks are definetely a weak point, but thicker fork oil can somewhat crutch that situation.
