Modified Clutch Lever for Small Hands

    by sparkslord » Sun Apr 22, 2007 2:58 pm

I just purchased a CRF80 for my sons. My younger sons hands are not large enough to let the clutch lever all the way out. It seems like there is enough play to adjust the cable for a modified clutch lever. Does anyone make such a thing? If I modified a lever, how do you go about bending it without breaking the poured metal lever? Can you heat it? I wish I could buy another CRF70 for him, but I can't afford it at this time. I came across this 80 at a price I could not pass up.

ASV makes a f3 'shorty' clutch lever but i don't know if its closer to the handlebars. I think its just overall shorter by an inch or so but idk. You could try that but its an expensive lever. Um, I'm pretty sure you can heat it and bend it but the heat will take away the nice finish to the lever so you can take off all the finish with a brass brush, prime it, and then just spray paint it a new metallic color like red or black and make it look custom.
O SO CLEAN, O SO FRESH!
