Tonight I brought home Motocross Action, Dirt Bike and Dirt Rider magazine.

You would think that MX Action was riding a different bike from the the other magazines.

Mx action is deffinently the the toughest and most correct.

Its great that there is so much stuff out there to help you decide on a bike. But lets be honest theres only one colour for us Smile

BLUE. I just figured out that yamaha's are more reliable, blue is gona be my next bike for one main reason, it will be cheaper in the long run and there a good bike anyway. This is my opinion, i hope someone disagrees to make this thread interesting! or at least shed your thoughts.

We all know Yamaha's are excellent machines. Hell, most all bikes are excellent when maintained properly.

Obviously we could own any brand we want. Yamaha's are less expensive than Honda's are out of the showroom. It wasn't a monetary decision to buy a Honda.

It's usually something deeper, something from our childhood that leads us to the Honda.

Ok I have only read the MXA test and it says the 2010 CRF250 rides like a stinkbug (this must be some americanism). I guess they are saying its soft at the front and too high at the rear. also it develops less power than the 2009. If you read the british mags they always have a different opinion in a shootout. also they often state that actually all 5 bikes (even the KTM) are excellent in their own right. The question is should one buy a 2010 or wait for the 2011.

I am considering a used 2009, which I will do a supension job and fit all my bits from my 06...then wait for a 2011...

Would some of the real riders out there who have a 2010 please comment on how it compares to a 2008 and 2009 on this thread???

today i went to the dirt bike show in the UK. The CRF250 list price is 5450 GBP this will go up to nearly 5950 in 2010. The YZ250F price is 6599. No matter how good the yamaha is money spent on a suspension job to suit the rider will make the honda better value. I spoke to a number of people who have ridden the 2010 Honda and they said it is a generation better than the 2009. Also this 6599 yamaha is a stop gap till the injected version next year. whilst I respect MXA's advice (I also read UK Moto mag and compare the opinions as on this side of the water we set our bikes up differently anyway) on my last CRF250 I took 10cc's oil out of the forks and added a tooth to the rear sproket. I had to put the original sprocket on as for me I was much slower and took an out 20cc oil from the forks. From what I have seen and heard today I am confident that this is an excellent bike. When I told the dealer about the MXA comment that the 09 was faster he told me about a test day where I could try the 2010 and he guaranteed i would want one after the test!

Here's a pretty good review, sounds like my bike will please me in the woods as well as it does on the track. I cant wait to put on a Pro-Moto Billet Spark arrestor and a Rekluse clutch, when they get around to making this bike a priority, and take this bike up to the trails.

The smoothness of that motors power delivery , the nimbleness that some are complaining about on motocross tracks as being 'nervous' could all add up to a really special woods/off-road bike with very little dialing-in .
I understand that , unlike the 09-10 450 that the 250 is very hard to stall as well.
Yup, a Rekluse with that motor could be one sweet off-road mount, something the 09-10 450 doesn't seem like such a good idea for.
A 250X with that motor is sure looking sweet.
The 09-10 450 motor may be a fine engine, but nobody is talking about it as anything like "best engine in its class" for any application. I fail to see, and did not experience, anything special about the 09 450 motor and frankly didn't like it, preferring the prior incarnation.
That 250 engine seems pretty special though. Doug
