we rode from salton city by way of pole line road and headed down tule wash. made it about a mile or so and the wash forks and we went left (should have gone right as we were looking for the pumpkin patch but got there eventually). it was very sandy and got very narrow riding through very tight washes. anyways we found a spot where someone (or group?) had built several hundred snowmen from rocks. in the middle of some trails here is a colony of snowmen...way weird. anybody know where this is so i can see via map where we were?

If it were several large circles of 3 stones each, then it is markings for geological digs or research. I saw pictures of it some where...I think maybe when I was researching the Truck Haven area.

If you were goin west down tule wash and took the left fork you crossed cut across trail at some point and contiuned into the hills to the south of pumpkin patch north of shell reef and east of pumpkin patch trail. Really fun tight tech trails in ravines and on ridges. Its where i learned to ride.

If you dont have a map of the area here is one
http://ohv.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=23478

Favorite Place to ride. PM if you ever want to ride

yeah it was a lot of fun and it waas in that tight twisty area. it seemed it went forever but was so much fun. plus when we stopped every now and then the walls made nice shade in the middle of august.

i love riding out there. my gf's mom got a weekend place in salton city so we have found most of the washes and trails arround the sea and most of the riding areas arround the 22, the playground i guess its called, lately we've been exploring down pole line rd to find places like pumpkin patch, next trip will probobly try to get to blow sand or shell reef or somthing.

Wow...those areas sound like fun! I want to go there with you guys. When are you going next? I might be able to this sunday. I've been to Ocotillo Wells once on my wife's quad and would rather get my bike out there. I'm a hardcore motocross and trail guy from Illinois so I'd like to find some trails not just wide and open like I seen.

gotta head northeast to the Mud Hills & Canyons. If you stick around by the highway & blowsand then you missed the entire desert
