What is the best way to take emergency tools with you on a bike? I was looking for some way to attach a small tool bag to the bike itself, and was wonderring what everyone takes with them.
Examples and pics would be appreciated.

| i always have carried emergency tools and equipment in my camel back. but last week i forgot my camelback and borrowed my friends ogio tool belt and i am now going to buy one. having the weight around my waist instead of up high on my back is alot more comfortable and i bareley notice it. plus it has an insulated water bottle holder that will hold up to a liter. |

I used to have a fanny pack with tools in it. It worked good when I was skinny. Now I carry my tools in heavy zip lock bags in my camel back. I carry 8mm to 14mm stubby wrenches, 8 to 14 mm 1/4 drive sockets a ratchet, home made wheel wrench, some allen bits that fit into the 8mm socket. some black tape ,a little bit of wire, some nuts and bolts lots of zip ties, water proof matches and of course a Leatherman Super Tool. _________________ 04 CRF250X |

I have carried tools in my camelback, but was looking to see what I can mount on my bike. I don't want to throw off the balance, but I want to be prepared.
Please keep the list going and if mounted on a bike, pics too. |

in my camelback i have a socket set 5mm to 14mm, an extension and 1/4 flex ratchet, it folds up nicely. i have a 8mm-10mm and a 12mm-14mm combo wrenches stuffed into the renthal pad on my bars. its all snap on....im such a whore lol. also in the camelback is the cellphone, riding where i do im never really far from the truck or the house or the trailer and with the groups we ride in i can just wait for someone to get the truck to come pick me up.
for several years i was part of an off road race team. i can tell you that fixing things on the trail is lame and an wasy way to kill the weekend. a good prep before a trip (or a ride in this case) is the best tool in your bag. _________________ 2007 crf 250x

I've worked on my bike a lot and it seems like the main sockets/wrenches needed are:
8, 10, and 12 mm sockets for most of the bolts, etc
A ratchet for the sockets
10 and 12 mm open end wrench for tightening the chain, etc.
Maybe an 8mm open end wrench?
Are there any other size sockets or open end wrenches needed? I've never encountered odd sizes like 7, 9, 11, or 13...am I correct in saying that these sizes aren't necessary? Any other sizes that I didn't include? _________________ 2006 Honda CRF250X #546

In addition to what may have already been mentioned, I always carry compressed gas (CO2), skabs and allen wrenches in my front fender pack.
I use my camelback for cell phone, drivers license, registration, insurance and a copy of the MVD's list of required items for making a dirtbike street legal (in case I get pulled over ). _________________

Surgical gloves.
Keep the hands clean when working and can be used to put over the exhaust when you have to carry a bike through those deep creek crossings.
There also good to carry water to fill that leaking radiator. _________________ Ray
