I just bought a used 2006 CRF450r from a guy who weighs 100 lbs more than me. The front forks are set really stiff for me. Also, the rear shock is stiff. The bike doesn't sink any when I climb on the seat.
So I right now I have the subframe off. I have good access to the rear shock. It would be easy to adjust the preload before the subframe goes back on.
Has anybody used the number of threads showing showing above the adjustment collar to determine approximate setting?
I would like to ask someone who weighs 180 to tell me how many threads are showing above the adjustment collar on their shock, just so I can get the adjustment close before installing the subframe.
Thank you.
Rob

STANDARD SPRING LENGTH:258.5 mm or (10.18") is the OEM spec for spring length for that bike directly out of the Factory Honda Service Manual... ;)

Use the standard spring length as the baseline , if you can't get the correct sag settings within reason of that area , then the spring may be too stiff , your sag numbers will tell you if the spring will work with your weight
