    2006 CRF230F for $1000 good deal???

The guy selling says it need a new clutch cable which he has. A new batt which he has. Needs brakes bled. Needs carb cleaned. Also one of the bolts that holds the exhaust flange is broken. Says runs well and shifts through all gears fine. Is this a good deal considering everything he has said? I know very little about dirt bikes but and very handy with tools.

A lot depends on your mechanical skill level. I have bought many bikes, street and dirt that are in that same scenario. Little bit of effort and you have a bike worth 2-3 times the original investment. How much you feel that you are getting the real story and how much you can evaluate yourself gives you the basis for buying or passing or making an offer. $1000 for the bike by looks in the picture alone looks like a great deal. Maybe see if the seller will let you put the battery in just to get the bike to rollover and give you a gut feel might not be a bad thought ? Go with what your gut tells you.

Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

A little added story line. He also has a 06 Yamaha TTR125L for sale. The Yamaha he says everything works fine and runs good. Nothing needed. He says he will negotiate more if I buy both. He has them both listed at $1000 a piece. He sounds willing to go to $1600-1700 for both. Should I just jump on the deal???

That is obviously your decision to make. I use to buy & sell many, many bikes a year and fix them up and turn them.
If they look good and for the most part are all there them $1600 for those two bikes is a great deal. Make sure they have correct titles and you have a good feeling of the owner being straight with you. I have also bought bikes that I just parted out and made even more money on the parts then the bike was worth whole so that is always an option also.

    Good luck.
